Criminal Justice I is a comprehensive overview of the American Criminal Justice System. The history, theories, and philosophy of the three parts of the criminal justice system will be discussed and include law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Relevant sociological and economic issues, past and present, will be addressed. Explanations of search and seizure protocols, rules of evidence, laws of arrest, trial processes and radio codes will also be discussed.
Criminal Justice II will introduce students to the history of police work, provide an understanding of law enforcement pre-employment examinations, and identify ways to be successful in a Police Academy setting. Other topics covered will include physical fitness, nutrition, crime lab functions, forensic instrumentation, crime scene processing, and effective communication skills.
