On behalf of the Heritage Junior High School faculty, I would like to invite you to attend Parent-Teacher Conferences during the week of October 16th. Following review of your child’s mid-semester progress report, please take advantage of this conference to discuss with the teachers any issues or concerns that you may have.
Communication between home and school is extremely critical towards providing an effective instructional environment for our children. As we prepare for Parent-Teacher Conferences, we look forward to your insights regarding your child’s education and input about the school year. As a parent, you provide valuable information for your child’s classroom teacher, so they are better able to address your child’s needs. Our teachers truly appreciate the support that you give your child in his/her education while at home.
We understand that some parents may feel that conferences are not needed and want to clarify that attendance is not obligatory. If you are satisfied with your student’s academic performance and would like to opt out of Parent-Teacher Conferences, please check the “opt out” box in the upper right hand corner of the Parent-Teacher Conference Request Form and return it to school.
This year’s formal Parent-Teacher Conference Schedule is as follows:
Monday, October 16, 2017 through Thursday, October 19, 2017 – 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Friday, October 20, 2017 – 7:40 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Some information regarding our Parent-Teacher Conferences:
- In an effort to consult with as many parents/guardians as possible, conferences will be scheduled for 20 minutes.
- If you require additional time, please consult your child’s teacher to schedule another conference for follow-up.
- You may schedule to meet with two (2) teachers if needed. Please list on the Parent-Teacher Conference Request Form which two teachers you would like to meet with, indicating three date/times you are able to attend as instructed on the form.
Your student was given a Parent-Teacher Conference Request Form for you to fill out. To schedule an appointment, you must fill out the form and return it to your child’s first period teacher by Tuesday, October 3rd. Conference times will be prioritized according to students’ academic performance. Your child will receive a written confirmation of the scheduled conference time to bring home. Parents will receive an e-mail or phone confirmation of the scheduled conference time no later than October 10th.
Although Parent-Teacher Conferences are held in October, we highly encourage parents to contact the school at any time you feel your child needs additional help. We will always make time for you, either through telephone conversations, e-mail, or face-to-face meetings. In this regard, please contact your child’s teachers at any time throughout the year to arrange a conference. Administration will be available during conference days to answer any questions.
Please contact the school office at (760) 294-5599 if you will not be able to attend your scheduled conference time. This will enable us to accommodate another parent. We look forward to meeting with you at our Parent-Teacher Conference days.
