Exciting News!


On September 20, 2016, future plans were announced for consolidating Heritage K-8 Charter School and Heritage Digital Academy Charter Middle School for the 2017/2018 school year. Beginning in August, 2017, Heritage K-8 Charter Schools will include both Heritage Elementary School (grades K-6) and Heritage Junior High School (grades 7 and 8).  All sixth grade students will attend Heritage Elementary School, located at the current Heritage K-8 campus (1855 E. Valley Parkway).  Seventh and eighth graders will be consolidated onto one campus at the current location of the Heritage Digital Academy (2255 East Valley Parkway).

Behind the scenes, the American Heritage Charter Schools’ (AHCS) staff has spent the past few years aligning the schools’ curriculum, instruction, and learning expectations. Now we are very excited about the opportunity to finally bring the programs together into one high-performing junior high school. Our team is confident these changes will improve our ability to serve parents and students. Moreover, merging the two schools will enable the AHCS team to better utilize facilities and staffing, to better encourage the development of a unique junior high culture, and to better focus the academic expectations as students prepare to transition to Escondido Charter High School.

The AHCS administrative team has spent the past year developing a thoughtful plan to complete the merger of the two campuses with limited disruptions. Currently enrolled sixth and seventh grade students from both campuses will be enrolled into Heritage Junior High School for the 2017/2018 school year. Parents will be informed in the spring of any paperwork needed to complete this process.

Tours of the Heritage Digital Academy campus will be held for those desiring to see the school and learn more about the program.  Tours are scheduled for Tuesday, November 8th and Thursday, December 1st at 3:10 pm, and additional tours will be scheduled in the spring. Space is limited, so please call the HDA office at (760) 294-5599 to sign up for a tour.

Lottery applications for all NEW students are available on the K-8 and HDA websites from October 12, 2016 through February 8, 2017. (Applications are not required for currently enrolled students.)
