The 2013 – 2014 school year brought on changes in how the state was assessing our students. Last year the Smarter Balance Assessment was brought in for state accountability. The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium is a multistate consortium working collaboratively to develop a student assessment system aligned with a common core of academic content standards for English language arts/literacy and mathematics. As a Smarter Balanced governing state, California is a decision-making member. Smarter Balanced assessments are designed to measure student progress toward college and career readiness. No state report card was given due to the changes.
However, I would like to provide you with our results prior to the change.
Heritage Digital Academy’s Academic Progress Index was recorded by the state as part of the overall Heritage K-8 results. However, Key Data Systems has broken out the 7th and 8th grade HDA scores for last two testing cycles and if those two grades were a school by themselves would have earned the following API scores:
2010-2011 School Year- 857 API
2011-2012 School Year- 869 API
In addition, Heritage Digital Academy students average two years of reading growth for every year at HDA through the use of the Achieve 3000 reading program and our HDA academic literacy program.
