School History

Heritage Junior High School (HJH) is a part of the American Heritage Charter Schools. This year we combined two very successful programs in our family of schools to create HJH. Heritage Digital Academy and Heritage K-8 Junior High merged after two years of planning to bring clarity and a vertical alignment with our high school.

Heritage K-8 Junior High was established in 2003 after a huge demand from parents to start an elementary. Over the years, Heritage K-8 Junior High established fantastic scores on state testing. In an effort to keep our school programs small, Heritage K-8 Junior High was capped at 50 students per grade. Due to the great success of our programs, Heritage Digital Academy was established in 2005 as an independent study program (grades 6-8) in the Heritage K-8 Charter School. In an effort to better serve our student needs, the school created the classroom-based version of the program in the fall of 2010 that implemented a blended learning model alongside the K-8 traditional classroom program. The program grew from ninety students to just over three hundred students.

We are proud to continue the rich traditions of American Heritage Charter Schools where our parents, students, and faculty have remained committed to improving student learning, imparting important American values that will help students become effective citizens and leaders, preparing every child for success in high school, and fostering a culture of academic excellence on and off campus.
