About Us

Heritage Digital Academy (HDA) is part of the Escondido Charter School District  along with Escondido Charter High School and Heritage K-8 Charter School.  Heritage Digital Academy was established in 2004 as an independent study program (grades 6-8) in the Heritage K-8 Charter School. In response to parent demand, the school created a classroom-based version of the program in the fall of 2010 that implemented a blended learning model alongside the K-8 traditional classroom program. Since then, the program has grown from ninety students to over three hundred students, demonstrating a high demand by parents and students to participate in a blended learning program. HDA now includes grades 9 and 10 operating under the Escondido Charter High School.
